Le journal américain fustige la dérive "xénophobe" du président français.

"La récente poussée de xénophobie du président français est assez cynique". Dans un "éditorial" acide, publié mardi, le Wall Street Journal rebaptise Nicolas Sarkozy en "Nicolas Le Pen" et fustige ses propos sur l'immigration.

"Une diversion"

Le journal économique américain pointe notamment du doigt la proposition du président-candidat de réduire de moitié le nombre d'immigrés en France. Acerbe, le Wall Street Journal estime qu'ainsi le président se rapproche de la politique du Front National.

"Ce débat sur l’immigration est avant-tout une diversion vis-à-vis de l’anxiété des Français", juge encore le quotidien qui s'interroge sur la portée économique d'une réduction drastique de l'immigration dans un pays vieillissant comme la France.
