La décision de l'Equateur d'accorder l'asile politique au fondateur de WikiLeaks Julian Assange "ne change rien", a estimé jeudi le Foreign Office, soulignant que les autorités britanniques étaient dans l'obligation de l'extrader vers la Suède.

"Nous sommes déçus" par la décision de Quito, a indiqué le ministère des Affaires étrangères britannique dans un communiqué. "Mais, conformément à notre législation, Julian Assange ayant épuisé toutes ses possibilités d'appel, les autorités britanniques sont dans l'obligation de l'extrader vers la Suède. (...) La décision du gouvernement équatorien ne change rien à cela".

Sur son compte Twitter , le Foreign Office assure qu'il reste ouvert à toute solution négociée.
